Isomer was engaged to provide detailed structural design engineering services in support of a housing replacement project for an existing sugar milling tandem. Two of the existing housings had reached the end of their service life, requiring replacement with new higher-capacity housings. Isomer performed an initial foundation inspection, then collaborated with the Owner and local contractors to evaluate whether foundation repair or complete demolition and replacement would be the more cost-effective approach. After confirming replacement as the preferred path, Isomer developed complete demolition and construction drawings to accommodate the larger housings and improve overall access in the milling area. Isomer also specified unique concrete mixes designed to increase the foundation's service life in the high-wear environment. The project was completed ahead of schedule in just six weeks to meet the seasonal outage window.
