EXPERIENCE

Brownfield Boiler Size and Layout Evaluation

The client had dual-fuel boilers in an existing building that were reaching the end of life and was concerned with meeting future demand requirements of a batch process. This effort included investigating multiple boiler technologies and layout configurations for constructability and operation in the existing building, involving heavy coordination between engineering and the construction and maintenance team to allow the site to remain running while the boilers were being replaced. The balance of plant evaluations determined that a new Fuel Oil pump and filter system, condensate return system, and steam manifold would be required. The fire suppression system required upgrades as well to meet NFPA codes. The team also coordinated with a local environmental consultant to assist in reviewing their air permit impacts. The FEED Package turned over to the client included multiple boiler layouts (utilizing their existing building), demo sketches, and a TIC estimate.
