Isomer provided front end engineering design services for the addition of a hydrocyclone cleaner to an existing 30TPD ag-based pulping line. The pulp mill was experiencing downtime due to heavy contaminants making their way into refiners, which resulted in frequent outages to replace prematurely worn refiner plates. Isomer worked with OEMs to develop a material balance and flow sheet, serving as a sizing basis for a new hydrocyclone cleaner installed upstream of refiners intended to remove tramp material. In addition to preliminary design of the cyclone, Isomer developed preliminary tie-in locations and evaluated existing pumps within the system to fully scope the retrofit effort. A conceptual layout was created to support the development of an AACE Class 3 Cost estimate, which was ultimately used for future CAPEX planning purposes.
