Isomer performed FEL1 and detailed design to double the capacity of an existing ag-pulp feedstock processing line. After completing a rough order of magnitude capital cost estimate during FEL1, the multidiscipline team proceeded directly into detailed design to meet an aggressive startup date just 6 months away. Isomer worked with the owner and OEMs to design a series of improvements including material handling, hammer mill feed system, pneumatic transport, and conveying systems. The team also retrofitted multiple access platform and equipment supports to the existing steel structure, utilizing a field survey and laser scan due to the absence of existing drawings. New equipment was powered from existing switchgear, with retrofits designed to utilize spare or short-lead components to meet the accelerated schedule. Two existing controls systems were modified as part of the effort. Isomer remained involved post-design, facilitating contractor selection and providing construction oversight services through start-up. The project was completed within budget and on schedule, just 8 months after the start of FEL1.
