Isomer provided technical advisory services to support evaluation of co-locating a first-of-a-kind 6 ktpa battery-grade phosphoric acid facility with a 10 ktpa sulfuric acid plant near an existing industrial site. The client had previously developed lab- and demo-scale versions of both processes, with FEL-1 engineering for a demonstration phosphoric acid plant nearing completion. Isomer’s role focused on scale-up risk assessment and integration strategy. The team reviewed pilot and demonstration data, process design packages, and core technology interfaces to identify technical gaps and scaling benchmarks. Co-location feasibility, shared utilities, and operational integration risks were evaluated to inform development strategy. Deliverables included structured risk assessments, scaling recommendations, defined FEL-2 milestones, and review of the client’s Technical Economic Analysis (TEA). An order-of-magnitude capital benchmarking tool was developed to support evaluation of expanded commercial plant capacities.
