This effort included the detailed design, permitting, and on-site construction support for a $75 million greenfield plant to produce food-grade vegetable oil. The design included all engineering disciplines and the integration of 3 major OEM process packages: bleaching, deodorization, and dry chemical interesterification. The project included a process building and tower, raw material and finished product tank farm, wastewater treatment plant, utility corridor, truck, and rail loading, and several utility bridges. This fast-tracked, design-build project included a challenging site positioned under the floodplain, with highly compressible gulf coast clay soils, requiring the site to be raised as well as extensive ground improvement measures. In addition to detailed design and on-site construction support, the team successfully value-engineered several million dollars in cost savings for the customer with excellent on-budget, on-time delivery.
