Isomer provided structural detailed design services for a 10-foot-diameter downcomer duct replacement project within an existing 250-foot-tall preheater tower. The team visited the site to gather as-built information, review potential interferences, and assess the condition of existing steel members planned for reuse as structural support. Multiple reinforcement details for existing members were developed to minimize required demolition and reduce overall construction duration. Isomer engineered custom duct supports designed to accommodate all applicable load cases, including thermal expansion and high-seismic conditions. Damper access platforms were incorporated along the full length of the downcomer, as required by plant maintenance. The project was successfully completed within the baseline schedule and budget.
