EXPERIENCE

MSW to Syngas Generation Unit

Isomer supported a pyrolysis unit OEM with process engineering services to align its proprietary module design with the capacity and integration requirements of a large-scale sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) facility in Europe. The skid converts municipal solid waste (MSW) into syngas through pyrolysis, followed by integrated gas cooling, filtration, and sweetening prior to delivery to the downstream SAF upgrading system. The module also manages handling and discharge of biochar generated from carbon captured in the MSW feedstock. Isomer collaborated closely with the OEM to develop process flow diagrams and preliminary P&IDs to support a HAZID encompassing both the module and its plant interfaces. The team actively participated in the HAZID, providing critical input on safety systems, controls, and integration strategy. Completion of the effort enabled the OEM to advance a FEED-level cost estimate and establish a reliable automated operating and safety philosophy for deployment.
