Nuclear Enrichment Facility Containment Area Design

Isomer was engaged to provide detailed design engineering services for a new spill containment area at an existing nuclear enrichment facility, part of a larger facility-wide expansion. Several new process skids added within an active processing area required new concrete containment structures to be retrofitted into the existing brownfield environment. Isomer's structural engineers developed custom retrofit details to meet exceptionally tight tolerances while developing a constructible design. The team also worked with the project to specify a high-performance epoxy coating system capable of withstanding sustained exposure to radioactive materials. All structural deliverables referenced permitted tolerances and facility benchmarks to maintain program compliance. The project was completed within the originally proposed schedule.
