EXPERIENCE

Confidential Bioprocessing Facility FEL3

Isomer completed a FEL3 front-end engineering design for a proprietary bioprocessing facility ($50MM+ TIC) to utilize specially engineered microorganisms to synthesize bio-based chemicals and produce sustainable commodity products using renewable raw materials, like sugar. Isomer created process models for multiple bio-based chemicals, each containing several process unit operations such as fermentation and DSP (downstream processing; sterilization, filtration, chromatography, precipitation, extraction, and crystallization). The new process was integrated into an existing manufacturing facility, which required significant brownfield modifications to existing infrastructure and utility systems. Isomer aggressively expedited the delivery of the comprehensive FEED package to support applications for federal funding, completing the work in less than six months.
