Surfactant Reactor Addition

This effort included the FEL3 and detailed design for a new $20 Million reactor structure, MCC room conversion, and related equipment at an existing surfactant production facility. The design included all engineering disciplines for the installation of the autoclave reactor into a new open structure. The reactor was previously purchased and sitting unused onsite. The reactor was prone to foaming, requiring a specialized pump. An existing pump was refurbished for use with the reactor, reducing capital on the project. New heat exchangers, flash drum, vacuum pump systems, and piping were installed to connect the reactor to existing systems in the plant. Existing MCC cabinets were reused and located inside a converted storage area to create a new electrical room. HVAC was designed to serve the new electrical space, and all instrumentation was integrated into the existing plant DCS.
