Isomer was engaged to provide scale-up support for a developer commercializing a first-of-a-kind textiles recycling process in preparation for upcoming preliminary engineering studies. Isomer first reviewed existing pilot plant documentation, flow sheets, and technoeconomic analysis as the basis for a current state summary report. This report included a gap analysis summary outlining areas for potential improvement or needing further validation, a risk review covering equipment selection and other key inputs, and general input on process optimization. Isomer also worked with the developer to create several flow sheet options for future study, evaluating and comparing both batch and continuous process options. To further validate assumptions around closed-loop economics, Isomer developed multiple process simulations to quantify sensitivity to key parameters and establish a baseline for future vendor testing.
