Isomer was engaged to provide detailed design engineering services to support the installation of a new field-erected four-million-gallon molasses storage tank at an existing sugar mill. Isomer's scope included the overall site layout and paving/drainage design, the ring wall foundation design, and the specification of the new tank. The team developed several layout iterations to ensure the tank could properly interface with the existing gravity-fed underground piping system while still allowing both truck and rail access to the storage area. The team also developed several custom foundation details to accommodate custom nozzle outlet configurations provided by the tank designer. Isomer worked collaboratively with the owner to accommodate the owner's operational preferences regarding the tank layout while ensuring that applicable API standards were met. The project was completed in just seven weeks within the originally proposed budget.
