FEL2 engineering and capital cost estimating for a containerboard paper machine rebuild project focused on improving sheet quality, operating efficiency, and production capacity. The project scope included upgrades to the machine to address deteriorating equipment and modernize critical components. Improvements to the forming section included the addition of a Breast Roll Shaker to enhance sheet formation and paper properties. The Press Section rebuild included complete replacement of the press framework, installation of new drive motors, and addition of a new vacuum blower. The Dryer Section scope included replacement of framing and rolls, new tail threading and sheet handling components, and a modernized hood air system. The FEL2 effort included development of a complete engineering package and project capital cost estimate to support project planning and execution. The team optimized the scope to meet project drivers and target ROI for the project to proceed into detailed design.
