This project included detailed design services to support new equipment and utility infrastructure for a plant expansion featuring two new sustainable technology product lines. With this strategic initiative, the facility became the first flex manufacturing facility in North America to support both internal combustion engines and electrical motors, for both passenger and commercial vehicles. Assembly, testing, and re-work areas were included for each product line. The piping and electrical teams utilized an equipment utility matrix provided by the owner to size and route the required utility piping from existing headers to the new equipment areas. Site visits were performed to review existing conditions, verify tie-in locations, and determine the optimal utility routings with operations personnel. New and reinforced foundations and new utility racks were required to accommodate the planned infrastructure. The project team met an accelerated schedule to meet market demands.
