Isomer was engaged to perform capital cost estimating services for multiple dry end handling system upgrades at an existing chemical facility. After performing a site investigation and developing a technical basis of estimate, the team submitted an AACE Class 3 estimate and participated in PDRI reviews with the owner. Isomer proceeded directly into detailed design upon receipt of project funding, which was primarily focused on replacing aged separation equipment with new components to de-bottleneck the process line and increase reliability. The team worked within the limited space availability in the existing facility and developed a design that considered demolition and constructability while also striving to reuse existing infrastructure where possible to minimize cost. In addition to the mechanical/piping and structural retrofits of the system, Isomer worked with the Owner to integrate a new OEM-supplied controls package into the existing plant DCS system.
